It is only one tooth mind you (I thought they came in pairs?!?), but it's a tooth. It is SO SHARP---I can't imagine how painful that must be to come through the gum. I went to work very very early Sunday morning, and when I returned and swooped her up, the first thing I noticed was she was warm. So I said to AC (my hubby), "She feels warm. Is she teething?" (Backstory---for the past 4 months whenever RG does ANYTHING-runs a fever, gets fussy, drools, chews on stuff, or any other signs of teething also known as SIGNS OF BEING A BABY-we say to each other, "Is she teething?") But AC says, "No, no, I checked, and no teeth." So I cram my (freshly washed, of course) finger in her little mouth, and lo and behold, her little tooth says "Back off, bitch!"

Why couldn't AC feel the tooth by himself? It's a mystery.

In other news, RG needs to poop. I had no idea how much I would talk about bodily functions once I was a mom. I mean, OK, some, but not ALL THE TIME. Who wants to talk about poop over dinner? I do! I do! She's had TWO SERVINGS OF PRUNES NOW, and still no poop. I am afraid for when it comes free. Any suggestions???

Also, please stamp sucker on my forehead. I paid 2.5x the price for Yobaby instead of just buying the freaking generic brand full milk yogurt. And I am the sort of grocery shopper who knows the average per ounce price of most of the food I buy and am frequently mocked for buying the generic brand "For Maximum Value" (really, that's the name. You can only find it at the ghetto grocery store.) SUCKER.

Also, Opinionated Daycare Lady is DRIVING ME BATTY. But, that's for another day.

If only it were shag carpet...

SO.

Swistle made me write. So I guess I'll give it a go.

What do you think of that blue carpet that my baby girl (let's steal a page from Tessie and call her RG) is crawling on? That is some stylin' 1960s turquoise blue carpet, my friends. It nicely matches the mustard yellow counters and brown (really, it's brown) linoleum. I would loooove to take credit for this, and you might even think, "Hey! She's a scientist! What the hell does she know about interior design (admittedly not a lot), but these design choices are courtesy of graduate student housing at UC@SD.

Now, these "apartments" were originally built as off-campus dorms. Which means that they are FREAKING OLD and that they are super, super fugly. And we are in CA, people, so you know it's ADA compliant, which means the light switches are ALL at waist level (otherwise known as eye level for a 4 year old, which means that the switches are the perfect height for my nephew to flip on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and KILLMENOW). My stove has basically two settings: burn-to-crisp or off. The shower head hits me in the head (I'm 5'6''). The windows in the bedrooms are 10ft long by 2.5ft high (try finding curtains for that). The maintenance and management suck. The vertical blinds are all fucked up----when they replaced some of blinds before we moved it they used the WRONG LENGTH so some of the blinds drag on the floor. And can you imagine the amount of bodily fluids that may have spilled on that carpet over the last 40 years?

And what do we pay for the privilege of living in these cozy yet fashionable graduate student apartments?

$948 a month.

Plus bills.

People are looking...

QUICK!
